This falls under the “figure it had to happen eventually” category. Had a special request I needed from Leah if she was working tonight, but, no luck. Since I saw a message from Dustin he was playing at the Taco Bell Cantina and Lynagh was playing at Margaritaville, thought it was a no-brainer, but, both their sets are from 6:00-10:00. Figure no problem, just divide my time between the two since Margaritaville being a restaurant first I have to “work extra hard” (meaning I have to keep the beers coming) to keep my good table. Only other time I have been inside the cantina was the infamous “Acoustic Freebird” incident on a Sunday afternoon so when it is busy it has the typical small venue problem that due to so much talking and commotion around me the audio would have sucked even though I had a good seat. Was cool how during the set since he just got back again from Ohio he said hi and asked how I was and I did the same back. Bring it up because it ties into a comment below. There were a group of women who came in because one of them was celebrating their fiftieth birthday based on the shirts. Didn’t think anything about it because I see these types of shirts all the time and assumed they were tourists. Apparently not since I assume she was with the group but a late arrival because she went to briefly talk to one them and as she walked by I recognized her as the person who at one point was the best friend of the ex-wife. After it dawned on me who she was I turned my head around and saw her talking to some one else at the counter, then, started to turn back around and noticed that sitting at the table to my immediate right was her husband with an open seat at the end. To avoid that issue, figured I would make “A hasty retreat”. Grabbed my jacket, waved to Dustin and started to head out planning to make a quiet exit and assume that hopefully she didn’t recognize me. What does he do? As I walk down the ramp he says from the stage, “Everyone say bye to Phil”. Guess I will get to see what happens next. Since I ended up at Margaritaville early, hanging out at the bar. As is his fashion, Sunshine announced somewhat last minute the official music video of Alyssa Coulter and his cover of Nickelback’s “Animals” is today at 12:00PM Central time in the U.S. adjust accordingly for your area.
